The Story Behind

Banu and Kömür met by chance. About a year ago, in the middle of a mission to save another life, Banu had an unexpected encounter.

A tin smuggler had brought Kömür to the rehabilitation center in Şişli, but instead of receiving help, he faced verbal abuse. Although he was only seeking help for a blind dog, he found himself in an unjust situation.

In the midst of heated arguments with the rehabilitation staff and the smuggler, Kömür’s fear overwhelmed him and he fled in distress.

Banu searched relentlessly for hours until she found him hiding at a construction site where he was living with the smuggler for some time. After a heartfelt conversation, Banu’s persistence and compassion finally won out and she took Kömür under her protection.

As well as being neglected, Kömür was also visually impaired. The road to recovery began with a visit to an eye specialist, but the news wasn’t what they had hoped for – his sight couldn’t be restored. But love and care can work wonders, and within a year Kömür turned into a completely different dog, still blind but filled with joy and happiness in his heart.

Today, Kömür lives in a private farm retirement home, surrounded by comfort and care. His future is secure in the warm embrace of the pension, where he can live out his days in peace and joy.
