Adopt Nehir

The Story Behind

Nehir’s story is one of incredible resilience in the face of tragedy. This young Kangal mix, with a heart as soft as her soul, endured a devastating ordeal when she was deliberately run over by a heartless truck driver in Tokat. Despite her severe injuries, Nehir’s spirit fought on.

A rescue volunteer found her and gave her a safe place to stay for the night, but Nehir’s indomitable spirit saw her crawl to the riverbank in the morning, even though she had nearly broken every bone in her body. It was then that they named her “Nehir”, which means “river” in Turkish.

Rushed to a clinic in Sivas, Nehir arrived with her body shattered, almost all her bones broken, her head severely injured and one eye dislocated. The situation seemed desperate, but Nehir’s fighting spirit prevailed. In a marathon operation that lasted over four hours, three expert doctors treated her, fighting off infections and working tirelessly to save her life.

Despite losing an eye during this ordeal, Nehir proved to be a true fighter, making a remarkable recovery in just 10 days. Despite the pain and fractures that limited her mobility, she never failed to show her affection for the caring doctors, wagging her tail happily whenever they appeared.

Today, Nehir is a symbol of hope, a living testament to the triumph of love and resilience. With her heart healed and her spirit indomitable, she now resides at the Burgaz farm pension, where she cherishes each day with boundless gratitude. Nehir’s journey is a reminder of the strength of the human-animal bond and the incredible power of love.
